It's been a while since I spoke about staple basics in my wardrobe, so I decided to put together a look that features some of my top staple pieces for this autumn winter. I think it's always great to show you guys fun new looks like my last outfit but sometimes the staple items in my wardrobe are the pieces that get bought out on a weekly basis and ultimately they are the most loved.
On the lead up to Christmas, I had a hen do, wedding and various Christmas parties that I was attending so found myself buying fast fashion pieces, that I love but will only wear just for the party season. With that, now it's a new year I really want to look at my wardrobe and start to make key investments into my basic collection again. I found myself being inspired by the pre-catwalk collections and good old Pinterest. My god, I must visit that website about 20 times a day! I sit there going from pin to pin to pin before I know it an hours gone by! Anyway, from pinning far too many fashions inspired outfits, I then create an idea of items I want to invest in and then do my research to find high street versions.
One of my key basics collections is denim. As I'm sure you are well aware from past posts I live in denim! And as much as I love to invest in jeans, you also need to find tops that sit well against your jeans. So this long sleeve ribbed top is my first basic purchase of the year and I bloody love, so much so I bought in black as well! Now this all depends on how I feel in the morning, whether I want to wear a loose fitting top or a fitted one. Here I decided to go for the fitted cream top and my washed Topshop jeans making a great combination just adding a splash of colour and texture. This is just a simple look that I would wear for work and to mix it up I would change up my trousers for an evening look. Having a basic ribbed top like this is great for styling with pretty much anything in your wardrobe. Let me what staple items you guys have bought so far this year?
