SHADE OF CORAL
A couple of weeks ago I was asked by Farfetch to be part of their style site blog to create a look inspired by this winter's biggest colour trend - red! I was assigned the shade coral and as you know I love a style challenge, so on the hunt I went for a coral piece. Any shade of red is a bold statement so I really wanted to show you guys how to make the colour work for you and how easy it is to work into your everyday outfits.
This past season I have bought into this trend and purchased true red coloured items like my red cardigan and red suede boots. I would have never thought to purchase coral, but it really did work within my style. I felt this shade fitted in more within my style than a blood red. As well as the styling part I also answered a few styling questions below. Anyway here's the look, please let me know your thoughts on this winters biggest trend.

What did this colour symbolise to you?
Coral symbolises fun and has a warming feeling. It breathes life into an outfit taking it from average to fun.
What are your top 3 styling tips for X product?
I would recommend styling this coral knitted top with a pair of dark denim jeans or like here with navy stripe trousers. Shades of blue compliment coral and are easy to wear. If you want more of a stark contrast, I would suggest pairing black trousers and a leather biker jacket to make the coral colour pop even more. If you are feeling adventurous you can team this knitted top with a pair of maroon colour corduroy trousers and this rust coloured teddy bear jacket. It all depends on how bold you want to take this look!
Who would you recommend to wear this shade/ who wears this shade best?
This a fun shade of red, and shouldn't be taken seriously. Coral is a youthful colour and should be used to make an outfit fun. I think this shade is great for colour blocking so look to the likes of Victoria Beckham for inspiration. For an head-to-toe red outfit, look to brands like Preen and Max Mara for influence.
How does this colour make you feel when you wear it?
It feels bright and energetic, these two feelings can be somewhat lacking in the winter months. So if I can make my outfit colourful, it brightens my mood!
Can you shed some light on the history of this colour?
Coral takes the best of two colours (red & orange) and makes a beautiful new shade of red/orangey/pink. The colour was inspired by the Red Corals that grow in the Mediterranean Sea. The Red Corals were given as gifts from Italy, in the form of jewellery for new friendships made with other countries. The colour was once only used for summer clothes, now it’s loved and worn all year round.
What are your top tips for pulling off this shade?
Be bold with this colour. Either make the coral colour the statement piece of your look or mix with other shades of red for a truly bold look. To compliment the colour always add a metallic accessories.
