CITY CENTRE BRUNCHING
Hello! Happy Saturday and happy weekend. Saturday mornings are literally my favourite time of the week. I love nothing more than having a chilled morning walking Bernard, eating a late breakfast and sipping my coffee until midday. Throw in a couple of fashion magazines and that’s the perfect Saturday morning for me. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, so when anyone suggests brunch on a weekend I’m the first to join in. This last month I’ve eaten out at some lovely places in town. A few places that I have had on my list to visit for a while and a two new places I’d never heard of before but would recommend trying.
Pot Kettle Black
This place came highly recommended try, mainly because of the coffee Joe had read about online. So while I was in town waiting for my photos to be developed I popped in here for some food and a coffee. The original Pot Kettle Black is based the Barton Arcade, a beautiful Victorian style shopping centre. Inside the coffee shop it carries on this theme of cool and quirky, with beautiful long wooden tables where you can sit with your laptop and work. As for the food, I opted for an early lunch and had the pork belly with black lentils and a flat white; which I can report back was lovely and smooth. I would recommend this place to take your mum and dad on the weekend or for a little stop off if your out shopping. The only downfall for me is that I don’t think they allow dogs, and we like to take Bernard with us if we are out on a Saturday.
19 Cafe Bar
Second on my list of places to brunch is 19 Cafe Bar. This place allows dogs so off we trotted with Bernard to try out their food. I have to say this place had a lovely chilled atmosphere about it. We all picked something different from from the breakfast menu and said how nice the food was. 19 Cafe Bar is a great place for no fuss hangover food and after a heavy night out. It also has a doggie date night on a Thursday, which I need to take Bernard too, the little flirt!
Pen & Pencil
I have actually been to Pen & Pencil before but for afternoon cocktails, which then turned into a night out, of course. The cocktails were delicious then and the breakfast of pancakes this time round with maple syrup were just as tasty. Instead of going on a busy Saturday, I went during the week and found it a great place to work from as well. Just note they do allow dogs here but as I was working I didn’t take Bernard with me. I would highly recommend this place for food and drinks, like I said the cocktails were so delicious. Plus once you have a table I could easily sit there with friends for hours, such a lovely bar and staff.
Ezra & Gil
This place has been highly recommend by so many people who live in Manchester. In fact it has been on my list of places to visit well before we even moved back up here. The food, the drinks, the service and that they have dog bowls at the door making the place feel so welcoming. I’ve had coffee and worked from here a couple of times and found it a great place to do so. The sandwiches are just delicious and the vegan carrot is even better! If you are freelance this is a great cafe to work from. I would recommend one of the tables by the windows, as they are a perfect for setting up camp with you laptop.
As always let me know if you guys have eaten at any of these places before and let me know if would like me to review any other restaurants or bars in or around Manchester. Like I’ve said before, I am really enjoying being back in Manchester and exploring this city again!
